Frankie Gonzales, Freestyle Coach
Born and raised in the soccer street of Corona - Queens NY, Frankie grew up with a ball literally attached to his foot. Whether hanging with friends in a park, walking to school, or alone in his room, Frankie and the ball were inseparable. The daily battle in the streets earned Frankie a reputation as a tremendously skillful player and the nickname Mr. Akka, due to his masterful rendition of a double-touch move that mesmerizes opponents and leaves spectators speechless. His penchant for wicked pandas, or nutmegs, made him a minor street legend and even impressed the street king Edward Van Gils on his 2009 US tour, who commented that he was unaware that street talent like this existed in the US. His prowess on the pitch and the street helped him to be regarded as one of the top ballers in New York city, and eventually it led to a move back to his family’s birthplace in Mexico, where he signed a youth contract with a professional club. His professional dreams were cut short as he realized that his true destiny was in New York, and he came back home to bring joy and passion to the budding street soccer scene. Before long Frankie “Flo” Gonzalez became one of the most sought-after and in-demand freestyle soccer players in North America, which lead to appearances at half-time shows across the country as well as commercials, video games, competitions, film festivals and mega soccer events. Frankie is not only an international freestyler and street baller, he is a youth educator, flo specialist and outside the thinker activist. What his next move is no one knows, but rumors are circulating that a lifestyle clothing brand is in the works. No matter what he does, the street element will always be in his flo.
